ANDREW OLSON Dwight -- Andrew Earl Olson, 86, Dwight, died Monday, Jan 7, 2002, at a Council Grove hospital.

He was born Dec. 3, 1915, in Dwight, to Walter L. and Harriet I. Nicholson Olson. He graduated from Dwight Rural High School and attended Kansas State University in Manhatten.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Dwight. He served 20 years on the Kansas State Board of Agriculture and was a past president of the Kansas State Fair board of managers. He had served on the Morris County Farm Bureau board.

He was a 60-year member and past master of Dwight Lodge No. 374, AF&AM, and a 60-year member and past patron of Dwight Chapter No. 318 of Order of the Eastern Star. He was a member of Royal Arch Masons and Knights Templar in Junction City and Isis Shrine in Salina. He was a past district deputy and area deputy grand master of the Grand Lodge of Kansas, AF&AM and had served on the church-lodge relations committee of the Grand Lodge.

He had served on the Dwight-Morris County Cemetery board, Hurino School board, Dwight School board and Ohio Township board.

He married Dorothy M. Taylor on Aug. 13, 1939, in Council Grove. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Ross A. Olson, Concordia, and Victor J. Olson, Burlingame; three brothers, Charles H. Olson, Leawood, George W. Olson, Prairie Village, and John E. Olson, Cooperstown, N.Y.; two sisters, Laura Belle Welter, Escondido, Calif., and Harriet Floor Meyer, Harbor Springs, Mich.; and four grandchildren.

Cremation is planned. Masonic memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Dwight. Inturnment will be in Dwight Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church or Dwight Lodge No. 374, AF&AM, both in Dwight, 66849. Memorial Chapel of the Flint Hills Funeral Home in Council Grove is in charge of arrangements. ⁽⁶⁾

Andrew was ill Dwight, Morris Co., Kansas, 12 Mar 1917. At 26 years of age Andrew became the father of Ross Andrew Olson 26 Aug 1942. At 29 years of age Andrew became the father of Victor Jon Olson 21 Aug 1945. From Hattie's notebook;
