17. Herbert E.2 Olson (Albert G.1, AndrewA) (#1871) was born Lyndon, Kansas 11 Dec 1887. Oldest Son. Herbert died 21 Sep 1954 Lyndon, Kansas, at 66 years of age.

He married Nellie E. Anderson 15 Jul 1908. (Nellie E. Anderson is #1872.) Herbert E. Olson, aged 66 years, died at his home in Lyndon, Kansas, tuesday morning, September 21, 1954 of a heart attack. He was born on December 11, 1887, the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert G. Olson. He has been a life long resident of the Lyndon Community. He was united in marriage with Nellie E. Anderson on july 15, 1908 and to this marriage were born five children; Howard M. and Fred L. Olson of Burlington, Kansas, Mrs. Leona Chalmers of Topeka, Mrs. Betty Goodyear of Reading and Nelson who died in infancy. Mr. Olson was a farmer for many years. In 1934 the family moved into Lyndon where he served as a night marshall for a number of years and later worked at Seymours for about ten years. While living on the farm, he became interested in measuring the rain and sometime prior to 1924 he became the local weather observer since he was provided with a government rain gauge and thermometer. Herbert was a member of the Lyndon Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge for 25 years. Mr. Olson was always interested in the civic improvements of the community and did enjoy life as shown by his happy outlook. He loved his home and his fireside; and his wife, children and grandchildren had his deep affection and were his greatest concern. He will be sadly missed. Funeral services were held at the Lyndon Methodist Church on Thursday, September 23rd, 1954, at 2:00p.m. with Rev A. D. Hager officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Leland Wedell furnished the music. Casket bearers were: Harold McDaniel, Frank Johnston, Jack Miller, Roy Skoog, Clifford Williams and Max Cates. Services at the cemetery were conducted by Floyd S. Ecord, Grand Master of the Masonic Order for the State of Kansas. The Shaffer Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements. Relatives from out of town attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Jess Bane, Salina: Mr. and Mrs. Courtland Abel and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Olson, Wichita: Mr. and Mrs. Ora Olson< Hugh Olson and Mr. Galen Olson from Kansas City. Mr. and Mrs. John F. Brink, Mr. and Mrs. Harlod Jasperson, Mrs. Dean Boyd, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Worrall, Mr. and Mrs. V.A. Jasperson, Mr and Mrs. Clyde Saylor all of Topeka. Mr. and Mrs. John Olson, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Simmons, Herbert M. Olson, Mrs. Walter Olson, Mr and Mrs. Andrew Olson all of Dwight Kansas. Mr. and Mrs. Roy N. Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Vincent, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Gloss, Mrs. Pete Anderson and Ethel of Scranton, Mr. George Anderson of Ottawa, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Cordts, John Cordts, Mr. and Mrs. Clark Coursen, Overbrook.
