Phebe died 24 Mar 1941 Hamilton, Steuben Co., Indiana, at 85 years of age.⁽²²⁾ Susan had only Steuben Co., Indiana. Death could be March 21st, 1941. Her body was interred Mar 1941 Teegardin Cemetery.

She married Jacob Teegardin Ostego Twp., Steuben Co., Indiana, 01 Jun 1873.⁽²³⁾ Dave had only 1873. (Jacob Teegardin is #3669.)

Jacob was born Allen Co., Ohio 23 Jan 1852. Jacob was the son of Aaron Teegardin and Katy Tharp. Jacob died 28 Mar 1928 Steuben Co., Indiana, at 76 years of age. His body was interred Mar 1928 Teegardin Cemetery. DESCENDENTS OF ABRAHAM TEEGARDIN, page 694

The story is told that Phebe being a "hired girl" in the home of Jacob's father, accepted a proposal of marriage from Jacob and they set the wedding date. While working in the woods one day, Jacob broke his leg and feeling sure that the wage of $1 per week, which Phebe received, would stop were she to become one of the family, postponed the wedding until he was able to work again. After their marriage, Jacob was given a farm to the south of his fathers. In later years, they left this place and lived in Butler, Indiana, but returned to Hamilton, where all their children were born.

TEEGARDIN ANGOLA, INDIANA MARCH 25 Mrs Pheobe Teegardin, 85, died Monday at Cameron Hospital in Angola following an operation. Fueral Wednesday at 2 pm at the Klink Funeral Home. Burial in the Teegardin Cemetery. Serviving are 3 daughters, 2 sons, 4 sisters, 16 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.

GUESTBOOK FROM PHEBE'S FUNERAL. Susan Musser Minch has this book. Phebe Eliza, daughter of Timothy and Mary Catherine (Gerst) Haughey, was born in Steuben County, Indiana, February 10, 1856. Departed this life, March 24, 1941.

At the age of 17, she was united in marriage with Jacob Teegardin, son of Aaron and Katy Ann (Tharp) Teegardin, also of Steuben County.

The parents of both were early pioneers of northern Indiana.

To this union were born six children, five of whom survive: Mrs. Cyrus Sheline, and Mrs. Frank Sutton of near Metz. Mrs. Lee Musser of Angola, Eugene of Butler and Russell of near Hamilton. The husband and one daughter precede her in death several years ago.

Other near and dear ones to mourn her departure are the grandchildren by whom she will be greatly missed. Also her four sisters, who have enjoyed her companionship through many years, will grieve to find her place vacant; these togather with other relatives, friends and neighbors.

An ardent lover of nature, the outdoor world held for her many charms. The cultivation of flowers and plants was a past time of her life, and essential to her happiness.

Self denial and sacrifice were marked qualities and remained with her to the end. Self was her last consideration. To her family, she leaves a rich legacy, in memory of life, frugality, and honesty of purpose.

Phebe Eliza Haughey and Jacob Teegardin had the following children:

125 i. Cora B.¹⁰ Teegardin (#3672) was born Metz, Steuben Co., Indiana 20 Jul 1874. Cora died 1942 Steuben Co., Indiana, at 67 years of age. Her body was interred 1942 Edon, Williams Co., Ohio. She married Cyrus Sheline. (Cyrus Sheline is #3865.) His body was interred Williams Co., Ohio.

126 ii. Mary Jane Teegardin (#3673) was born Steuben Co., Indiana 11 Nov 1876. Mary died 14 Nov 1928 Metz, Steuben Co., Indiana, at 52 years of age. Her body was interred Nov 1928 South Scott Cemetery. She married George L. Sutton Steuben Co., Indiana, 11 Mar 1900. (George L. Sutton is #3866.) George was born 1878. George died 1934 at 56 years of age. His body was interred 1934 South Scott Cemetery. George Sutton was a Barber in Metz. Brother to Frank Sutton who married Emma Teegardin.
