Obituary of Russell Lowell Teegardin. Steuben-Republican 31 Jul 1968, pg 6, Col 3 Russell T. Teegardin (the T is wrong), 74, of Hamilton, died late Friday the 26th, in the Cameron Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient. Teegardin and wife, Carrie, had just purchased a home in Hamilton, and were in the process of moving at the time of his death. The couple had resided near Edon, Ohio.

Surviving besides his wife, are 2 sons, Herman and Ronald Dean of Rt. 2, Hamilton; a daughter, Mrs. Preston Moody, of Rt. 1 Fremont; a sister Mrs Maude Musser of Angola.

Funeral services were conducted at the Swift Funeral Home, Hamilton, at 2 pm Monday, July 29, with the Reverend Kenneth C. Thomas, Church of Christ, officiating. Internment following in the Teegardin Cemetery near Hamilton.

Per Evelyn Everitt Teegardin Sept 1995 Russell inherited the Jacob Teegardin farm on the cable line road in Steuben County. Russell and Carrie lived there while raising their children. Approximately 1945 they sold this place and moved near Edon, Ohio to be near Herman (their son) and his family. When Herman's family moved back to Steuben County (they had been renting a farm near Cooney) and purchased land on the Cable line Road, Russell and Carrie stayed in Williams County, Ohio.

Per Susan Musser Minch 1995 As a small girl, I can remember Russell and Carrie driving down the road to visit Herman and Evelyn. It seemed you could see them coming forever because Russell drove so slowly down the road in his little pink car. I remember Russell being at least 6 ft tall, and Carrie was maybe 5 ft tall. They were quite the contrast. I also remember the farm in Edon. They lived in a 1 story house surrounded by farm fields and Carrie's flowers. Carrie was 100% German and seemed to know the special recipes of the old German cooks. She was an excellent cook.
